Search for funding in Africa and you get the same recycled names, usually undated. So here is what is actually on our public table today, with the mix stated up front.

On 13 September 2026, 127 of 543 active GrantSnap listings were tagged Africa: 64 fellowships, 26 scholarships, 16 grants, 12 competitions, and 9 accelerators. If you specifically want cash grants, that is a small minority of the Africa tag — so filter the homepage table by type rather than scrolling everything.

How we chose the examples below

We started from active listings tagged Africa and startup (or clearly for African founders). We dropped near-duplicate rows of the same programme. We dropped rows whose apply link was an aggregator share URL. We kept programmes where we could state who is eligible without guessing. develoPPP appears because it is large and easy to misread: it funds EU, EFTA, or OECD-DAC companies doing projects in eligible countries — not a typical Lagos or Nairobi seed grant.

Read eligibility before amount

It is not complete. It is not endorsed by the funders. It is not advice that you should apply. Several Africa-tagged rows in our catalog are conferences, jobs, or bursaries. Read eligibility first. Prize size is a bad sort if you are not eligible.

Open programmes

• AU-EU Youth Action Lab Entrepreneurship Grants 2026 — AU-EU Youth Action Lab. Youth-led non-profits, trusts, CBOs, NGOs/CSOs, or cooperatives with a social or environmental mission, registered, with an organisation bank account. Listed countries include Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
• Pitch Perfect Africa 2026 Innovation Fellowship — Health Innovation Hub (H2i), University of Toronto. Current H2i Level 2 HENT ventures onboarded by their lead mentor by 31 August 2026. Early-stage health ventures. Previous Pitch Perfect Africa winners cannot win again.
• develoPPP Classic Ideas Competition 2026 — develoPPP. Established, privately owned, profit-oriented companies registered in the EU, an EFTA country, or an OECD-DAC-listed country that want to run a sustainable project in an eligible developing or emerging country. This is not a first-time founder grant.
• UNDP timbuktoo Launchpad for CreativeTech startups — United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). CreativeTech startups in Africa, or building for African markets, with a prototype or MVP and a committed team. The Creatives Hub is hosted in South Africa; applications were listed as rolling.
• NSIA Prize for Innovation (Nigeria) — Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority. Early-stage Nigerian innovators and startups. The 2026 edition listing highlights healthcare, manufacturing, climate, and food security.
